Today was a shoot unlike any other I have done before. Everyone’s story inspires me in different ways. Mark’s story however, made me realise how amazing life really is and how a strong heart, mind and determination, really can make all the difference!

On the 17th of December 2015, Mark Daniels was involved in an accident where he was struck by a car while riding his motorcycle. Mark suffered several life threatening injuries and subsequently, was rushed to the Royal Perth Hospital. Over several days, Mark underwent many operations. The doctors and nurses did everything they could to save Mark’s life. Unfortunately, in the process Mark needed to have a below the knee amputation because his right leg was so severely damaged.

Mark is making awesome progress with his recovery, but this will be a lengthy road ahead of him. Mark is a fighter and is determined to put everything into his recovery and rehabilitation.

Being able to do this photoshoot for Mark was truly an honour. We went to World Gym in Ashmore and started the shoot with Deadlifts. Watching Mark lift 55kg a side with perfect form was incredibly impressive! After this, we decided to get a few shots using the dumbbells (Bicep curls and kick backs) and then moved on to the battle ropes. I don’t know about you, but I have a hard enough time keeping my balance when I use these! Watching Mark smash through sets while I was taking some awesome shots made me realise how strong and determined this guy really is!

Next year, Mark is planning on participating in the Kokoda Trek in April with mates4mates, The Invictus Games in Toronto as well as learning to run with his blade.

If you think Mark is as awesome as I do, check out his Facebook page ‘Team Mark’ and keep up to date on his progress (while also showing some support and love!)

Be the lion, when all others are playing sheep.
Be the leader, when all others are following.
Live each day as if it may be your last on earth……. It may be.”
